Unity of motion and stillness

Lucent Art collection features reproductions of original mandala paintings by the Chicago-based artist Lucentity. Evoking the themes of sacred geometry, transcendence, contemplation and awareness, the paintings in this collection have been called an “acrylic on canvas meditation on the unity of motion and stillness, the totality of everything and nothingness, and the physical and imperceptible.” This collection has been influenced by the artist's practice of tribal belly dance and extensive travels in South Asia, Middle East, and South America.

Unlike the commonplace software-generated patterns, the process of painting each piece in this collection is a weeks-long and sometimes months-long meditation. There is never a plan for the flow of colors. There is no knowing of what each mandala will look like. There’s only lucent energy that steers the brush.

Mandalas are truly a gift of the ancient spiritual traditions to the modern world. Attuned to their reverberations, the artist’s subconscious guides her hand in making patterns connecting one to another in an endless dance within a circle to create a microcosm of movement and stillness. The healing and calming energy that is locked within every element of the mandala will circulate back to the viewer bringing sense of inner peace and oneness with the Universe.
